Counterpoint is an independent magazine featuring original writing and amazing illustration. Each issue has a different, unique theme and comes packed with thoughtful features and gorgeous original artwork.
We pride ourselves on showcasing brilliant illustrators alongside the work of the best new writers and journalists. Counterpoint has been shortlisted for Stack's Best use of Illustration award three times.
Each issue of Counterpoint is hand bound and risograph printed in Edinburgh using soy-based inks and recycled paper, with quirks of printing that mean each copy of the magazine is unique. All our profits are shared equally between contributors.
Counterpoint is edited by illustrator and printmaker Bethany Thompson and journalist Sam Bradley. They founded Counterpoint as an online project in 2013.
Counterpoint #19. The Growing issue.
This issue, we explore different aspects of growth, from the personal to biological and even crystalline. We learn the secrets of sourdough, investigate invasive species and explore what happens to emotional growth after the loss of a parent. The new issue features incredible artwork from some of the best illustrators around.
